We are seeking a practical, hands on member of the Operations who will be responsible for site operations in the Bourne area. The post holder will maintain and uphold at all times the highest standards of leadership, behaviours, morals and ethics, representing an exemplar for the company in all internal and external relationships.

You will have excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively, the ability to take ownership of a situation, be a decision maker and resolution provider using your own initiative. You must have the ability to foster a strong, supportive team working ethic with a collaborative approach.

Essential Skills

  • Engineering degree or similar engineering qualifications
  • OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Management System- permits to work
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management
  • Practical ‘hands on’ manufacturing and warehouse processes (Inc. maintenance)

  • ISO 45001, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system

  • Project management training and/ or experience.

Objectives of the Role

  • Co-ordinate production and purchasing functions, liaising with commercial functions to meet customer needs whilst keeping efficient stock levels
  • Co-ordinate quality and environmental standards
  • Co-ordinate BBA/CE product standards
  • Co-ordinate health and safety systems and ensure all incidents, accidents, near misses and yellow slips are recorded and investigated in a timely manner
  • Review, develop, co-ordinate, deliver and maintain operations HS&E requirements including permit to work system, safe systems of work to reduce/control risk
  • Co-ordinate the fleet management of company vehicles in and out of the site
  • Develop close relationships with all direct and in-direct suppliers covering the Operations function
  • Review, develop, deliver and maintain operating processes and procedures to drive improvements in effectiveness and productivity (SOP’s, problem solving)
  • Co-ordinate internal and external facilities through outsourced contracts and scheduled assistance by other staff members
  • Co-ordinate waste reduction and efficiency improvements including heating, lighting, waste etc.
  • Produce a comprehensive monthly report, ensuring appropriate metrics are produced and communicated on the operations function
  • Manage appropriate operations budget lines and allocation of expenditure in line with budget levels i.e. maintenance of equipment, provision of new equipment etc.
  • Assist in submissions for annual expenditure and capital purchase items for operations functions
  • Co-ordinate the operations team, ensuring training records are maintained, development plans and performance reviews are undertaken and appropriate team meetings occur
  • Co-ordinate security for the site, ensuring site is opened and closed daily. Liaise with security company and any external sub-contractors who gain access to the site out of hours to maintain a safe and secure facility
  • Co-ordinate import and export shipments via approved freight forwarders.

Salary dependant on experience  £35,000-45,000
